About Chantal

Chantal Pisarzowski is the Founder of forward stud.io and creator of Parallaxe, a fully AI-mediated dialogue format developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute. She works at the intersection of AI, design research and interactive installations, with a focus on the dual use of AI: the same systems that can benefit society can also create risks for autonomy, democracy and mental health. Parallaxe addresses one of the most structural problems in democratic life: the absence of safe, low-escalation spaces for genuine political exchange.

The focus of her work

In Parallaxe, participants with opposing political views do not speak to each other directly. Instead, they communicate exclusively through an AI system that analyses, de-escalates and reframes their contributions in real time. A redundant three-model fact-checking system cross-validates claims to minimise hallucinations. Participants are algorithmically matched using an eight-question political assessment, ensuring meaningful but not unbridgeable differences in viewpoint. The system intervenes in tone and escalation dynamics; it does not manipulate political positions. Parallaxe is fully multilingual, allowing each participant to speak in their native language.

Impact

  • 86 percent of pilot participants reported feeling safer expressing their opinions in the AI-mediated format

  • 73 percent found the exchange less confrontational than typical political discussions offline or on social media

  • Pilot sessions conducted with around 70 participants

  • AI-related projects shown at 16 exhibitions and festivals internationally, including Ars Electronica, Berlin Science Week and Berlin Design Week

  • Around 12 talks and workshops delivered on AI, ethics and creative technology, including at the Max Planck Society and BMW Group

Responsible AI in practice

Responsible AI is the primary design constraint of Parallaxe. All participants give explicit consent for conversations to be used for research, and where conversations are stored, this is exclusively in pseudonymised form on European servers. No personal user data is transmitted to external APIs; only the minimum textual content required for processing. The three-source fact-checking mechanism is designed to communicate uncertainty explicitly rather than suggest false clarity. Collaborations with Fraunhofer HHI and DFKI ensure alignment with research-grade standards for data security and ethical evaluation.

Vision for the future

For Chantal, AI is infrastructure for democratic culture rather than a threat to it. Forward stud.io as a space where creative technologists, particularly women, can prototype responsible, socially meaningful AI products that strengthen the conditions for genuine political exchange.
